Vellarikka(Cucumber) Pulincurry


Cucumber(Vellarikka)-1 1/2 cup

Daal-1/2 cup

Turmeric -1/4 tsp

Chilli powder-1 1/2 tsp

Grated coconut-1 cup

Cumin seeds-1/4 tsp

Tamarind-lemon size

For seasoning

Mustard seeds

Red chillies-4 nos

Curry leaves- a sprig



Pressure cook the pumpkin and daal with chilli powder and turmeric.Prepare some tamarind pulp and add this to the pumpkin and daal mixture.Cook it till the raw taste of tamarind goes.This curry will be slightly sour in taste.So you can adjust the sourness to your taste while adding tamarind pulp. Grind the grated coconut and cumin seeds (see to that it you don’t make it to fine paste).It must be grinded only slightly.Add this mixture to the cooker and mix well.Cook it until it gains the curry consistancy. Check for salt.Remove from flame.

Take some oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds.Add red chillies and curry leaves and add this seasoning  to the curry.
